Thanks!
I did up my fat and I have it at about 70% of my daily diet. Carbs around 4-6% and the rest protein. It's hard to find thing that I will eat that are higher fat than protein. I had a bag of pork rinds in my hand last night t the grocery but just couldn't bring myself to get it. i've tried them and they just don't taste good! I do love ballpark hot dogs though and came home with a couple pack of those. low carbs, little sugar and high fat. I can take them to school with my cheese and have a snack instead of starving until I get home.

Ginny,
How is Denver-ish beautiful this time of year Yes? So too here in California it is beautiful. So lucky you found an atkins book for a buck wow, that’s great. Biking is so peaceful a sport, especially in Colorado, I spent many many hours biking the AF Academy….really hard hills to climb. The great thing about Colorado is its packed with people who are fit for a reason…not just for looks…to climb, hike, bike, such a progressive state in terms of fitness.
So update on weight loss minimal progress, I believe its due to drinking white wine…keeping me puffy although I have not been eating many carbs or much of anything for that matter…ahhh and the cheese factor…I eat cheese and my body blocks up and puffs up. So with that I know I need to cut those two out or the combo is not going to let me drop any more weight. I’m not weighing myself for a week, giving myself some breathing room and working on not being hard on myself.
So to keep in check I will be eating eggs, chicken, beef, green beens with butter as a staple and little to no wine for the week and little to no cheese.
I always keep hope alive no matter the stall or gain, Atkins just suits me.
Best of luck to you Ginny, I look forward to the updates very much, they keep me motivated when I feel low.

Hi Dena,

Hope you are still well. I'm in a bit of a stall because I was out of my thyroid meds for a week. That's never good as it makes me gain. But I didn't, I just stayed where I was. I should start to go down again here in a few days.
I've been staying at about 15g carbs per day. A couple days ago I had a forkfull of white rice and when I put that in my fitday, it took me to almost 20g! In a forkful!
Then watching my husband sit and eat 3 CUPS of rice. . .way too much.

We will see what the week holds.

Ginny,

Don't be discoraged by others' successes. My thyroid is on a permanent vacation too, so I know just how you feel watching everyone else drop dress sizes like hot potatoes - I had to watch my husband do it! He's where he wants to be after just one month on the Atkins. So he's maintaining nicely and I'm chugging along on 20 grams of carbs a day.
So after a good long talking to myself I decided I could either use my thyroid as an excuse to be fat and miserable forever OR learn to accept my body and my average half-a-pound-a-week weightloss. I now see my half a pound a week as a huge victory! And it is! If the scale's moving in the right direction, then its all good. Relax about the pace, the result in the end will be worth it. I'm not sure how old you are but think of all the years you've got ahead of you at the 'right' weight. How long it takes to get there is really insignificant in comparison.
Good luck,
Lou

Lou,

For a new member you have a wonderful attitude. I love the comment about not being discouraged by others' successes. Now that I am 52, my weight loss is significantly slower than it was when I lost weight just a few years ago. I have stopped weighing myself, and am just chugging along -- knowing that my clothes are getting just a little bit looser every week or so -- nothing earth shattering, but the progress is there. The other thing I am trying to accept is that limitation of carbs is for life -- I have no idea at which level, but I'm sure my maintenance level will be quite low.

Thanks for sharing your great ideas.
